Scientific research has proven that we humans have developed the practice of classifying and discriminating things in order to make it easier for us to process our reality. This basically means that our brain feels more comfortable labeling and then placing stuff into well-defined boxes. Unfortunately, it seems that our society has also adopted this method when it comes to dealing with gender, and many people have therefore learned to conceive of all gender-related issues as either male or female.
In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I’m fortunate to be joined by Dr. Jennifer Booker. Dr. Jennifer Booker has three engineering degrees and just completed a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She came out as transgender in 2013, and in 2019 published her story of coming out and going through transition in “The New Normal: Coming Out as Transgender in Midlife.” Jennifer shares with us how attending a presentation at the Fringe Festival in Philadelphia almost 10 years ago served as the starting point of a deep journey of self-discovery and later her gender transition.
